Destination: Helsinki, Tallinn, Saariselkä, Rovaniemi
Arrival at Ivalo airport. We have a private transfer to the airport for onward domestic departure to Saariselkä in the InariSaariselkä region, the homeland of Sami culture, which falls right under the auroral dome with a predicted average northern light spotting of one out of three days in a year. On arrival at Ivalo airport, we have a private transfer to the atmospheric resort at the top of the Kaunispää mountains We have the rest of the evening at leisure Enjoy a delicious lunch at the panoramic restaurant (included).<
Breakfast In the morning, we have a transfer to Lemmenjoki National Park, the largest in Finland (approx. 2 hrs by road). We will visit an authentic Sami reindeer farm and travel by riverboat approx. 17 km deep into the wilderness of the Lemmenjoki guided by a Sami reindeer herder who will be serenading us with Joik, the ancient Sami music. On the way, we will see the magnificent mountain ranges rising from the river canyon. There, we get to know nature's beautiful white sparkling Ravadas waterfalls and listen to their roar. At Ravadas, we will enjoy a delicious reindeer soup with tar-scented fires, topped with soot pot coffee and pastry. At the end of the trip, we will get to know the reindeer husbandry in the old Sámi courtyard. We will visit Kaija Palto's Atelier Huopapirtti, a unique artisanal workshop for felt textiles and reindeer skin-felt accessories, and have a chance to meet reindeer up close. Return to Saariselkä Dinner at the resort (included)
Breakfast and checkout. Private transfer to the Aurora igloo cabin in the Northern Lights Village. It's time to meet the energetic Husky dogs. The husky musher will pick us up from the Resort and take us to the husky farm nearby. We will get to greet the eager and lovable sled dogs and get to know the details of their life. We will then be seated on a summer wagon and a team of huskies will lead us into a forest. The guide will make sure to stop at the midpoint for us to take some pictures in the forest with the dogs. Before leaving, we get to give the dogs the last hugs and take pictures with them. Dinner (included) Evening at leisure to relax in our aurora cabin waiting for the elusive auroras to appear in the Northern sky (Optional igloo sauna with outdoor hot tub can be arranged also)
Breakfast & checkout. Transfer to Ivalo airport for onward domestic departure to Helsinki. Board the train from Helsinki airport to the Lakeland region Mikkeli (approx. 2.5 hrs) enjoying a scenic ride. The Saimaa lakeland, the largest lakeland district in continental Europe, feeding on Lake Saimaa is listed by the Wall Street Journal as one of the five most beautiful lakes in the world. On arrival at Mikkeli, the driver will pick us up for a private transfer to boutique accommodation in the middle of the beautiful Linnansaari national park. Experience a taste of subtle Lakeland luxury staying in a premium log villa on Lake Saimaa, at the boutique Järvisydän lake resort, dating back to 1685 built in a unique medieval style made from stones and over 500 years old sinker logs recovered from the bottom of the local lake and river bottoms. We have the evening at leisure to explore the well-marked trails surrounding the resort
Breakfast. In the afternoon, the boat will take us to one of the most beautiful places in Lake Saimaa, the island destination of Kaarnetsaari and we will hike our way to stunning scenery. Return to the mainland. We have the evening at leisure to enjoy the unique nature spa-sauna, at the magical setting of Lake Saimaa built from natural stone and sinkholes that are over 500 years old with multiple saunas including the salt sauna.
Breakfast. In the morning, we will paddle off in the beautiful Saimaa Lake with our guide in our Indian canoes, admiring Lake Saimaa's forested archipelago with close to 14000 islands. Europe’s fourth-largest lake Saimaa, in autumn, is a tapestry of rich blues, vibrant greens, and reds. Its narrow straits lead into wide open waters which are scattered throughout with forest-covered islands and quiet beaches and hemmed on all sides by boreal woodland and rocky cliffs. We have the evening at leisure Optional addon - Electric fatbiking through the nature trails.
Breakfast and checkout Private transfer to the train station where we board the train to Helsinki. The hotel is at a walkable distance from the train station. We have the rest of the day for major sightseeing attractions in Helsinki Optional add-on: Car and driver at disposal for local sghtseeing
Breakfast Transfer to Helsinki ferry terminal to board the cruise to Tallinn, the Baltic capital of Estonia. The UNESCO heritage city of Old Tallinn is one of the best-preserved medieval Hanseatic cities in the world. With narrow cobbled alleys, tall spires, and beautiful Hanseatic architecture, it’s no wonder that the Tallinn Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site. We will be transferred from the Tallinn ferry terminal to the Tallinn Old Town. We have the day at leisure to start with lunch in the popular medieval Hanseatic restaurant (Optional add-on) with an amazing medieval ambiance followed by discovering the Old Town highlights. In the evening, transfer to the hotel.
